Hi- thanks to Mike, Duncan, Helen and Bernie (and of course Lawrence) for joining me this weekend for a mix of windsurfing, talking, relaxing and mostly eating. Icing on the cake was the demo kit available from North and Fanatic- so sailed three times and didnt even have to rig.
Weather was great with the sun- a little cold and hardly any wind on the Sat and Sun- and enough wind to plane on the Mon. Rain held off until later Mon night.
Huge thanks to my parents for the use of their appartment overlooking the harbour- plus childcare!

Got down to Weymouth early afternoon Saturday to find it basking in sunshine but not a lot of wind. Went for a bike ride into Weymouth and got back 5.30ish to find it had picked up to a good blasting level - but I'd missed it! Sunday was equally sunny with a bit more wind than Saturday - but cold. Nick Baker was having a demo weekend and had a great range of Fanatic boards and north sails. It would have been rude not to try them so together with Nuala and Duncan we mixed and matched several during the day and I had a go on one of his SUP boards. Finally rigged my own kit late afternoon but it never quite got to planing conditions. Much appreciated Nuala/her parents hospitality where we all finished the day off with an indian take away

Went out with Duncan with demo larger board and smaller sail to practice light wind gybes. Tried again and again and with lots of instruction- improved! Thanks Duncan

Second sail in the day- demo kit again- hoped to plane but wasnt enough wind to plane. Practised gybes some more- but found it a lot harder with larger sail. Spent most of time tacking back to beach.

Helen and I went to Weymouth on Saturday but there was no wind so we had a nice walk to Abbotsbury and back, about 10 miles, then met up with Mike and Nuala in the Turk's Head and a good catch up on all the OMWC gossip. Sunday, went to Ringstead Bay for another walk.

We were hoping to sail at Weymouth on Monday, but the tide was naff, and we headed to Christchurch; it was a lovely sunny day but the forecasted 17mph wind never materialised and we spent most of the day off the plane.

Great to catch with with Andrew and Clair though. But then we shot off home to collect the dog from the dog sitter and forgot to say bye bye; sorreeeee Andrew and Clair, see you again soon!

Didn't quitre make it to Weymouth, but finally got out on the water at Christchurch (first time this year).

Very little wind and I only got planing a couple of times, but it was just a really pleasant sail. Made it across to the Hengistbury Head beach and stopped in for a cup of tea with Liz and Steve in their beach hut - made it all worthwhile. Good to catch up with Bernie and Helen as well. A great start to the season, just hoping for a bit more wind next time.

Got down to the beach relatively early to make the most of the spring tide at it's height. Wind was up and as a result all the demo boards and sails were already out. Rigged my own Free Diamond 70 and 8.0m sail and had a brilliant couple of hours of flat water blasting before the water disappeared and my arms dropped off. Best sail since 2011!

A sunny Bank Holiday! What is the world coming to?! The 17-24mph of wind didn't exactly happen; it was 10-12kts! Nevertheless, the RRD Firemove, a beautiful and flattering board, made sure that unlike almost everyone else, I was planing most of the time, even though I had loaned my weapon of choice (the Lightening 7.0) to Captain Bob in an attempt to propel him to greatness. I can confirm that Bob did manage to get in the front strap on his last reach for a whole 5 yards. Yay!

Just as I arrived at the beach- Nik Baker was returning the ideal demo kit for me- so quickly changed and launched without rigging for the third time this weekend (couldnt have been better timing!!).
Went out with Duncan to practise carve gybes- planing comfortably most of the time. Practised lots and got round a couple- fell in tons but as only waist height water- wasnt too bad. I do love Portland Harbour!!
After over 2 hours- arms felt like dropping off- so gave Lawrence the demo kit and I paddled back with Xavier on his kiddie board.
Huge, huge thanks to Duncan for excellent tuition- now I just need to practise, practise, practise.

....yeah, & I seem to remember being handed the kit from Nuala just as the wind died...........
