A great weekend on Hayling. Some nice swells and plenty of wind.

Great to see Loads of people out. Jonathan gets the prize for longest on the water. John G for choosing the right sail and knowing the most people on the beach as well as for tasty healthy snacks. Andrew gets the prize for the tastiest unhealthy snacks! Late Tate, as usual, gets the prize for being late!
Fortunately the wind did not drop off on either day so he still had a good sail.

The Yew Tree was visited to refuel on Saturday night - delicious food and beer. Lots of happy tired people by the end of the weekend.

Had a whole day to myself and was determined to make the most of it. Started on my Skate 99 and 6.4. This was marginal to begin with but gradually the wind came in. Seeing black clouds on the horizon I decided not to change to my 5.9 as I thought these would either mean more wind or no wind. The good news was that they meant more wind, the not-so-good news was that they meant rain. By this time my small fin was struggling to cope with a very powered up 6.4 so rigged up my 5.3 and took it out on my freewave board - a sublime combination for the conditions. Despite the incoming rain had a great session on this. How Heather continued to hang onto her 6.6 I don't know! All in all a great day, and I got to heathrow to pick up the family just in time :)

Arrived to see Twofish aka Damian and Caroline in his shiny T5 - welcome to Hayling, sir!
Had some lunch and a cuppa, since it was still fairly light and forecast to rise. Good call - I skipped the "flogging the 6.5" stage and moved straight to "easy 5.5 planing" without passing Go.

Spent the next 2.5 hours whizzing around, swell building up a bit, and doing a few reasonable jumps, before tiring and quitting as the rain increased. Good session! Good to see Mike, Bill, Trev, Beth "Briefly", Heather, Jon, and share snacks with Andrew.

Nice to chat to Evva in the in-water rest sessions - tip: Don't EVER shout "STARBOARD" at Ms. Mulgrew, because it winds 'er up summat cruool, partikler if she's already trying 'er 'ardest to avoid yer. And why does everyone hammer up and down in the same over-busy slot, at the same angle to the beach on busy days at Hayling?? There's several kilometres of beach available guys... just saying.

Hope everyone had a good day on Sunday, looks like it was nice.

Excellent day at Hayling. Good to have some real wind for a change, and a some swell to go with it.

Made such a nice change from plodding around on the big board and sail. Great fun, really enjoyed it, just wish my arms and energy levels could last a bit longer.

A bit grim de-rigging in the rain, but a small price to pay for an excellent day.

Got down the beach mid afternoon soon after it started raining :( rigged my new 6.6m North X-Type (despite the fact that it was really 5.7m weather) and had a stonking sail. The rain came and went but the cloudy/windy conditions had the strange effect of making the water seem warmer than the air - so when you wanted to warm up you just fell in! That's pretty rare for the UK. Great sail - just felt a bit like a chimpanzee afterwards!

What a day. Good combination when I first got on the water but the wind built up and really I should have changed down. However, I was having so much fun I just hung on! Jonathan was on the water early and finished late - great effort.

What a bonus. Expected to go out and just play around in light winds and sunshine, but I planed straight off from the beach. Then the wind filled in a bit more, well powered up all afternoon.

We had a glorious day, ok not as exciting as yesterday, but just so so nice. I made it well up wind to the sand bar, away from all the crowds and away from all the chop, just me and a couple of others sailing in perfect conditions.

I thought yesterday was the best day this year, now I'm not sure. Just an excellent weekend all round - thanks Heather and Bill, definitely gets my vote for host of the year.

Had to do some work in the morning so didn't get down the beach until mid afternoon again. Rigged my almost new 6.6m North X-Type (despite the fact that it was really 8.0m weather) and regretted my being influenced by my shiny new sail! Rerigged my 8.0m and had a blast in the gorgeous swell and sunshine until there was hardly anyone left on the water. Most enjoyable

Great sail. Nearly didn't go out as it didn't seem windy enough. Glad I did. Really nice chilled sail - after I'd done a few tweaks to the rig. Thanks Andrew for reminding me what a difference some minor adjustments can make.
