I can recommend Littleton Lake, nr Shepperton. It is easy to join the club, and the showers are nice and hot. There's a storage garage/racks if you need space to store your gear. Also RYA Training Classes and gear is available for beginners to try out windsurf and dingy sailing.

Their website is here.

There is a bunch of windsurfers that meet on a very irregular/informal basis. But when the conditions are right, it usually brings people out to have fun. You can get a quick idea of 'What's on the water today', by checking the web camera. Wednesday, Thur evenings are good mid-week times to have a look. Outside of dingy racing times, sailing is on an 'Own risk' basis, and the Buddy Sailing system is encouraged. There is a healthy dingy sailing competition scene at weekends, and Safety Boats are on duty 11am - 4:30 ish at weekends.

And they even have a webcam! Which is handy.

And of course, being a sailing club, windsurfers are Special.

The Lake and club house facilities are funded by Civil Service sports club, but there are several clubs which share the use of the water. Membership is not restricted to Civil Service Sailors. Non-Civil Servants may apply to join Littleton Lake Sailing Club.
