Wow!! That was brilliant!
Lots of OMWCers there, along with probably every windsurfer within 200 miles... Almost outdid the NWF! Hi to Nick and Sarah and Carol and Steve and Steve and Roger and Claire and Andrew and Heather and Bill and John - did I miss anyone? But enough of that...
Back to the beach... And he looked upon it, and it was good.
Sunny - check. Windy - check. Waves - check check check!!
Spent a lovely couple of hours hooning around, realising that windsurfing is fun after all - exactly the right amount of wind, nice small board, small sail - wonderful.
Came in for tea and cake, chatted to Andrew and Claire.
Went out again - even better this time, but arms started to cramp up owing to lack of practice at actually sailing waves n stuff, so stopped. More tea, more cake... home with a huge smile on the face. Excellent!!

I started off on my 7.0 sail but after a while it was not only getting a bit quick but my arms were growing in length. So I changed down to my 6.0, there were a few nice ramps to have some fun on and some big gusts. Just after one large gust hit me & I was approaching maximum speed, there was suddenly a massive explosion of body, water & rig, the board was nowhere to be seen & I was hanging on to the rig. The U J had broke! I managed to reach the side towing the rig, just as the rescue boat appeared. With nothing left in the energy tank he was a welcome sight, he recovered my board & gave me and the rig a lift back to the jetty on the other side of the reservoir.
Apart from that incident it was a good fun days sailing.

A fantastic afternoon at Hayling Island

Arrived to find the car park packed, windsurfers and kiters everywhere. Most people were on 4.5s but wind was dropping a bit, so opted for 5.5 - just right, well powered in the gusts and enough in the lulls.

Managed to work my way upwind to the sand bar, maybe I'll never be a real wave head, but still whad great fun. Mid october and mild, loads of people out, but strangely it didn't feel too busy on the water.

Good, fun sail. Did not expect toget out due to friends visiting but we all headed to the beach and had a great time. Ended up on the bigger sail due to Bill and I not knowing between us what kit we had - Doh! Anyway - had a great sail. So good to see so many OMWC people out or on the beach. I think John named nearly everyone I saw except Steve and the 2 Rogers. Good time had by all.
