Absolutley fantastic day at Hillhead.

Arrived around midday to find very light wind and just a couple of kiters out. As the forecasts had been mixed, decided to get out while there was some wind, so rigged big board and 6.6. Planed straight off the beach and had a very pleasant hour, but not really exciting. Stopped for lunch and watched a few other floundering around.

I considered packing up after lunch, but decided to give it one more run - WOW FANTASTIC, Hillhead sea breeze kicked in and I was totally overpowered. Came back in (with difficulty) and went for the 5.5 and smaller board. Well powered up and quite challenging in the famous solent chop, but what a blast, really good sail. Sailed for a couple of hours but then just had to give up due to lack of energy.

Best sail this year.

Got to main car park a bit earlier than Andrew but as there was no one about went half a mile along Hillhead Road where there were a few windsurfers and Kite surfers out. Wind was a bit up and down at first but then really kicked in and was more than enough for my lithe 100kilo frame on my 6.5. Being my first sail since Ortakent a year ago was I pretty knackered by 1pm so decided to quit while I was still ahead and watch others in action from calmer surroundings of the the Osborne View. Had hoped to come down to Hillhead on Sunday (honest) but the forecast for the best wind looked to be late afternoon and in the end we didn't make it. Went for an afternoon paddleboard instead in the harbour until the wind suddenly came up and we got blown back towards shore. Quickly rigged big freestyle kit and went out, great fun jumping trying manoeuvers and crashing, the harbour was a bit more shallow in places than ideal though. Eventually got overpowered but had to call it a day by then anyway.
