An excellent summer fun-in-the-sun weekend. Kids of all ages enjoyed themselves. Windy both days, everyone had a great sail.

Saturday was windy, and ok it was a bit misty and yuk at times, but that just scared away the grockles

Saturday evening BBQ at Acton Fields, followed by the "Chris fire pit", now with added health-and-safety fire extinguisher.

Sunday was hot and sunny, starting with gentle F4, then a strong sea breeze for the afternoon.

A really sociable weekend with a great turn-out. Good to see both Nuala and Lawrence on the water at the same time, impressive to see how well Rory S is windsurfing (he'll be beating you soon Dave), great to see Carol and family camping, nice to see Kev & Ali in the new camper van and really fantastic to see Gabi and Mili.

A lovely sail in Poole. Big kit as usual, but that was just right, just gently cruisin across to Brownsea Island.

An intersting day at Bramblebush, started on big kit, and that was fine in the morning, although the wind was a bit up and down. Then out again after lunch to find it had picked up alot! After much faffing, went out on my 100 l board and 5.3 - ok, but even felt a bit overpowered on that. All in all it was a good sail, but not as pleasant as the previous 2 days.

Arrived about 10, thus avoiding the later queues for the chain ferry, and shortly after Andrew et al. Rigged 116l6.5m, and thoroughly enjoyed the sail to Brownsea Island, blatting along in the harbour. Lovely spot. The wind came up a bit, so the 6.5 was looking a bit much. However, I fell off at one point and put my hand through the (admittedly already nicked and taped) bottom panel of the sail. Bad Times. So I decided to rig the 5.5m on account of the higher wind - bad plan. I didn't correctly locate the bottom mast half in the top half, and snapped the dratted ferrule while downhauling. Super Bad Times. Left under a cloud, although it was by this point sunny and clear!

Great days sailing for Rory and myself. Rory on his 114 JP Young Gun with a 4.5 Dino sail and myself starting on a 118 Rocket with a 6.5 sail changing down to a 5.5 and a 103 Kode after lunch when the wind got up even more. Iona enjoyed her crabbing and digging in the sand with all the other children. Great to see everyone. Hope to be at either/or/maybe both Calshot and Bramblebush Part 2.

Hi Dave - that explains why we couldn't find Xaviers buoyancy aid anywhere! We will be at Calshot this weekend. Cheers. Nuala x
