It's the middle of July, it's (optionally!) hot and sunny, it must be the Calshot Summerbash! And so it proved...

A good showing, far better than the initial bookings indicated, so thanks to Gabi and Milli, the Sheffs and Kev & Ali (Friday night) for their almost unheralded arrival! And the folks at Calshot are welcomely flexible, so thanks to them also. We were parked in the usual Sopwith Hangar spot, away from the rest of the campers, and safe from the road, so kids were free to test the safety facilities and parental restraints without risk of being run over.

And everyone got to do something interesting - check the diaries. A crack(ed) squad of OMWCers even did a stint in the velodrome early on Sunday, Kev, Carl and John submitting themselves to the kare of Kristy who put them through the initial training, including the last 6 laps around on the blue line - phew, that was hard work! The later windsurfing was quite a relief...

See you next year, guys!

Sail:6.5

Not as windy as we hoped, just about planing on 6.5. BUT, so what, a really really good time, great fun being out on a warm day, sailing with friends.

Personally, I had a much more enjoyable sail on Saturday, when I was playing around with big board and very small sail in the "pond"

An excellent summer weekend at Calshot with all the usual crew

An excellent summer sail! Like everyone else, waited for the sea breeze/topup and it arrived... Rigged the 'new' 6.5m sail, which worked really well, planed lots, warm bath water, nice to be out in the sun! A great way to end an excellent weekend, the highlight of which was probably the session in Calshot Velodrome - a new challenge!
