Last year's event was so amazing it will probably never be overtaken and you can never rely on that fickle ingredient - the wind!

The winds this weekend were as predicted extremely light - I have never seen such slow racing (or should I say pumping!!) in fact many competitors abandoned their kit in the shallows and ran along the beach instead! Offshore on Saturday and onshore on Sunday but lots of sunshine to at least allow a spot of relaxation

New kit didn't always win - one guy on a triangular cloth sail with matching vintage board came well placed in one of the races. But it was mainly big kit (not having read my windsurf mags for a while I can't name most of it but I heard serenity mentioned several times!) There were a few tandems and many boards that resembled over grown surf boards.

Quite a few familiar faces over the weekend - Mike T, Andrew C, Nuala with a very large bump and Laurence (!), Heather and Bill, Jonathan and Jane, Bernie and Helen, John G, Alan Cornish, Nick (without Cora), Steve and Lilda (sp?), Chris Dymond (former member - does that count?), Beth and Mike

Most people stayed down for the whole evening. The nightime racing was very slow motion but quite colourful with all the flourescent glow stick things! The band did a good job of livening things up afterwards and played some fun music and the beer flowed (well at least if you had a glass - they did have some resource problems!!) Being the sociable creatures that they are Heather and Bill invited the OMWC crowd back to continue the party chez eux, so it was a very slow leisurely start the next day. The organisers were packing up when we finally made it to the beach !

A fun weekend if not one to go down in the annals of windsurfing history!

And to add to the fun it was my birthday - amply celebrated in the early hours of Sunday, thanks to B&H and a bottle of extraordinarily nice single malt! An excellent time, thank you all.

Hardly a breath of wind so didn't sail but despite that it was a great weekend with a good turnout for the Fat Face Night series event. Classic Indian Summer weather - but we want wind!
