Hayling 'packed' beach
Hayling beach on a not so busy day - surprising really as it was such a lovely hot day

A bit of a mixed bag. Looks like some had a good sail.

Sounds like they had similar conditions at Avon Beach. Carl rigged but never got out, John V had a long swim.

Vulcan attempt # 1
My first proper vulcan attempt...

What a frustrating day!
Forecast looked good. Got to Hayling an eventually decided on a 6m - but reckoned it would be a bit marginal.
One run out and realised I was totally overpowered - so got out my 5m and smaller board.
A squall then came through which drove most people off the water - I think numbers on the water went from about 50 to 3! Just about managed to hang on to my 5m.
Then the wind dropped to nothing. Had a spot of lunch and the wind came back - so was back out on my 6m which quickly got overpowered so onto the 5m. Realised the tide was about to take my 6m from the beach so came in to derig it, only for the wind to drop again!
Overall - spent far too much time changing sails, and far too little time on the water!

A highly changeable day... but I got "lucky" compared with those who rigged and re-rigged - I just rigged my 4.7 and waited for the wind to come to me!! Which it did... a great hour, in sun a lot of the time, then stopped when it dropped a bit and my feet started to hurt. A planing gybe!!! How cool is that... Just go really fast and it's easy ;)

Didn't get down to the beach until around 3pm but ended up having a decent afternoon until 6pm. Wind filled in fairly consistent and there were a few small waves on the sandbar albeit a bit confused as it was high tide. Caught up with John G at the Inn on the Beach but Steve B, the Kiwi and myself ended up sailing from the far end. Still a bit chilly!

A typical spring day on the Solent. One minute blue skies the next squalls and lashing rain. All this seasoned with some wind, extra bagsfull of wind then no wind.

Started with a 6m and a 99Ltr board then dropped to an 85Ltr then resorted to swimming. Felt knackered at the end but at least had got out for the first time this year. Sorry I didn't see you JohnG but it sounds like your minds going so you wouldn;t have recognised me anyway !!!
