Saturday started with very light winds and a split of members, some in the harbour and some at Avon beach. By the afternoon, the wind had come up enough for Alan and Mark to venture out on the sea and Sheena in the harbour. It certainly wasn't epic, but still a good day at the beach. Saturday evening, 13 of us retired to the newly refurbished Globe in Highcliffe, which now does some pretty good food although some of the portions could be a bit bigger to cater for the average windsurfer's appetite.

Sunday was sunny, pretty windy and a load more people turned up. In all as we shifted between beach and harbour I counted 30. OK so I might have included 9 children and a couple of ex-members who showed up in that number, but who cares, it was great to see so many OMWC members all having a great time in one place (alright two places).

There wasn't much swell, but plenty of wind. A lot of people started out on 5 point something with some changing down to 4.5's later on. Poor old Chris M quickly arranged a lunch appointment and went home as he'd only brought a 6.5. Due to a back injury from earlier in the week I joined the harbour contingent this time for some flat water. Bit of a mistake as it was so choppy, probably would have got a flatter sail on the sea. Still I had a good few hours of bouncing around the harbour with everyone else.

A great weekend and good to see so many old faces.

A visit to the local surf shop to pick up a full set of used ezzy`s, got the kit, now come on wind. Few cups of coffee later the wind looked to be building so skip the 9.0m and straight to the 7.0m, had half an hour of planing and chasing Dad around before it dropped, ah well. Had a nice meal at The Globe, though portions were a bit small....(oops, forgot, I am meant to be loosing weight) and great to see Chris again, the tash was a suprise though.

Got there early as I had to leave early afternoon.
Good to see Chris M, Alan C & Mark C.
Perfect wind & plenty of sun, but no clean waves to play with.
By midday plenty of boards on the water.

Lets hope for more days like this....

Best sail for two years, water was a little flat but musn`t grumble, the sun was shining and the wind blew, got to be a 5 star day. Plans to use one of my newly aquired ezzys was scuppered when I realized the 430 mast I bought at the boot fair a couple of weeks ago, was at home. Tried to rig it on a 460 but to no avail, so got out the smallest sail I could rig, a 6.3m. It was a bit full on but managed to hold it down ok, coupled with Heathers Axxis272 it felt mighty quick, and had lots of fun seeing how fast I could go on a broad reach before wipeing out or hitting some steep chop. Did manage to gybe it now and then, but bare feet and a banana skin deck proved challenging, so will be applying some non-slip during the week. Had a chat with Adrian and also Claire, saw Chris Burley, and watched both Nick and Sarah have a sail, even witnessing the tag team changeover.
The car park at Avon beach filled quickly, and I understand more club people sailed in the harbour, so didnt get to see everyone, but overall, a fabulous day.

Been up to London for the weekend but got back to Hayling in time for a late afternoon sail on Sunday - great conditions and the second time in the week that I had the 98l Freestyle wave out - this time with my 5.0m sail. It was also my third outing in a week - well 8 days - all of them better than any sail I had during the whole of last year!!

A sunny windy day with loads of OMWC friends at the beach and harbour, what more could you want. I had knackered my back earlier in the week and wasn't too sure about sailing at all, but in the end couldn't resist any longer so went for a 5.4m in the harbour. Its a long time since I've sailed there in a Westerly as the sea is normally pretty good then, so I had forgotten just how choppy and gusty it gets in that direction. After an hour or two a lot of people went in and some came back out on 4.5's, but I decided to stay on the 5.4. This was because the extra bit of power seemed to help with holding down the nose of the board over all the chop going into a gybe and nothing at all to do with being too far back to the van to be bothered with changing.

Perhaps it wasn't my best decision to go out in the harbour although I think I'd already done most of the damage, still the sports phisio down the road seems quite happy. Bit of tissue damage in a lower back joint and sciatic nerve a bit unhappy at present too. I think I'll probably have to be out of windsurfing for a short while, as even driving/sitting has become a bit painful to manage more than a few minutes at a time now. Strangely enough though it doesn't hurt nearly so much when I'm standing and moving about which is sort of what you do to windsurf isn't it?

The advantage of letting your better half go out on the water first is not having to rig up just before you go out.

Sheena went out in the harbour on this kit, by the time she finished, she was overpowered - perfect for me.

Saturday I sat it out but Sheena got out on 6.5 for a little bit of planing and wobbling. Good to see everyone, nice evening in the Globe on Saturday night.
