Oct 31 Hayling

Steve D at Hayling

Hayling Island

There are three windsurfing venues on Hayling but only the seafront is a serious contender as a venue worth visiting regularly. The other venues are only suitable in emergency situations, when it is impossible to windsurf on the sea front and, believe me, these situations arise! OMWC events often coincide with the Hayling Windsurf Car Boot Fair, on the first Sunday of the month, now held in the large car park behind the big dipper in the funfair with the Carousel cafe adjacent serving excellent breakfasts (thanks Stan!).

Inn on the Beach is the pub for a change so we can keep an eye on the windy water.

Beth and Michael have said there is room at the inn, so we hope everyone will come down to prepare themselves for the expected nuclear winds on sunday (really! but nothing to do with Iran or NKorea). We recommend sailing on saturday if for no other reason than just to avoid the trick or treaters, warm up/practice and be ready for sunday, and to earn a few extra pints at the pub!

There is also a Hayling bootfair on the sunday, for those who can always be enticed by the chance of a bit of shopping.

I'm not going to comment on the potential for wind as I don't want to hex it...however as this is the official end of the Event schedule lets try to see it out with a blast. If there is a lack of wind - a bike ride and then a big dinner at Inn on the Beach - maybe we could book a room. Hot tub anyone? Also has anyone looked at the long term forecast for November - again I won't mention the elusive spirit...but it looks good.

Called Inn on the Beach and they will have space on Satureday. It might be a good idea to see how many people intend on showing up. The next day is supposed to have nuclear wind and monster waves so we might make it an early night. Saturday no wind - Sunday insane.

Beth

Helen and I hope to be at the Inn on the Beach on Saturday for a meal and banter, then sailing on Sunday.

Cheers

Thermo-Nuclear winds, and good company - the perfect end to the summer season - We have asked the babysitter to look after the boys as it looks like they might get blown away if we took them to the beach.
