Hayling delivered the sunshine this time round but not the anticipated sea breeze. Despite this there was a pretty decent turnout to enjoy a bit of basking, if not a great deal of sailing. Heather, John and Balazs took to the water for a float about while the rest of us made do with the odd swim to keep cool and a lot of lazing about. It was such a beautiful evening that we decided to have a barbecue at our place rather than the planned visit to the Maypole. This went on a bit longer than expected (as usual) so we missed the car boot action on Sunday. But as the wind stayed away it was down to more swimming and enjoying the sunshine. It's a hard life (as Heather says).

Turned up at the far end of the beach, as instructed, to find the Hayling posse well-established on the "terrace" overlooking the beach - maybe I should have brought my waiter costume and the chilled white :)

Anyway. after a bit of sitting around, Heather and I rigged up - go large seemed to be the approach. A few guys were already out, but there wasn't really much planing going on, even the man with the plan-ing Formula board and the 11m sail. By way of an experiment, I rigged my 7.5m for the first time in, oh, 2? 3? years... but to no avail. But it was good to get out on a really beautiful sunny day, work the gusts a bit, try a few simple tricks like leg drags, hand switches, switch stance, and of course the well-known tackasplasha.

And then we had a great barbecue round at Heather and Bill's, in excellent company. Marv. A great day!

Rebecca had her first day on a windsurf board. She successfully uphauled a bunch of times, but it was a little bumpy for her. Next time I think it will have to be Esso Beach. Anyone have a garage door she could borrow for the first few days?

Sorry, took mine down the dump last month (that's my old long board, not the garage doors)
