This has to be the best windsurfing event England has. Local freeriders, national pros, national freeriders all racing all day, partying all night, camping and then more racing and freestyle. The wind was a little light, but it made for a much more pleasant event than last year. There were something like 300 racers there - 144 freeriders and the rest people who have competed on the national circuit.

Threre were also some really good sailing clinics given by the likes of Nik Baker, Peter Hart and other pros. The windsurf industry showed up in force with at least a dozen booths showing sails and boards of all types.

As I said the wind was light, but this didn't stop the fun...and then there was the party...great music, great dancing, and cheap beer.

There was a small showing by OMWC members and I hope they all had a good time - I was a bit busy competing and can't remember who all was there so please put in a diary about the event. I must say though dancing with Heather, Leuda and Mike was pretty wild and crazy.

I hope next time there will be an even better showing of OMWC members and maybe even a few other racers.

What can I say - I don't think I've ever had more fun racing. I think I placed 2nd overall, but at least I made the cut and got to sail the night master blaster. That was an incredible experience - before the event my heart was beating so hard - I imagined screwing up my jybe and not being able to waterstart drifting off into the darkness. Thanks to the glow sticks and my slightly improved big sail jybing I made it in - and I didn't place too badly. Can't tell you how much fun this whole event was.

The evening sailing was great fun for everyone, in particular Juan. The morning after the party showed that the party was probably great, as there was no wind and few faces at the boot-fair. WE were disappointed at the distinct lack of naish kailuas.

CONGRATULATIONS to Beth for her great sailing and good results, together with lucky babysitting and fun partying!

Nice to see loads of windsurfers and a few OMWC down at the weekend. Congratulations Beth on another great result. I was down with Nayra so didn't get on the water - a bit worrying as she showed a strong interest in kites and the skatepark - will have to keep her away from both in the future!
I am certainly going to try to make a point of entering next year - it looked a lot of fun.
