So we drove over to Avon Beach and met up with John Gouk and his good lady, Jenny. It was totally flat and cross-off, giving an annoying wind shadow for the first 100 meters. Still, I had another good hour until my energy was sapped.
The Globe was great, with 9 of us eating, including two non-members who may now become members, Martin and Mark, plus Tim, who was celebrating his first water start.
All in all not a bad day's windsurfing, a sweet wind, but soured by the poor direction, but better than it has been for a while. It was a nice Club day though, with a good turnout on the beach and for apres-surf.

Actually sailed Bracklesham because Rebecca had a sports commitment. However it wasn't a bad call. After swapping down to a 4.2 had a great session with some shoulder high back side waves.
sorry couldnt make Christchurch.

Arrived at Avon to find it totally flat but pretty windy, with the usual shadow in a Westerly. I'd hoped there'd be some waves, but no...
Had an initial session zooming around, completely incapable of doing any manoeuvres successfully, but it was fun. Did a few jumps that weren't high but were well-timed on the chop. I was a bit overpowered on the 5.5, but couldn't be bothered to change it - how rubbish is that!
After lunch, the wind seemed to have dropped a bit, so took the same sail but a larger board out. This was a good plan for about 10 mins, at which point the wind came back and I was hanging on to a monster! Highly amusing! Still no waves, in fact it was even flatter than before...
Wish I'd gone to Bracklesham/Hayling/wherever, but no regrets on the evening entertainment. A Good Day.

Dont know why Bernie didn't negotiate 2 days wind whilst he was at, it but as I could only manage the Saturday I was well happy with a force 5 blowing for the best part of the day! I turned up before midday (I know I'll be losing my reputation!) but as it was hopelessly off shore at Avon Beach went around to the harbour to get in some flat water blasting and much need gybing practice. It was great to see Dave & Sheena and Liz and Steve - all with their respective broods - and also Brian and Barbara! Yes that's long lost Uncle Brian to those of you who have been around long enough to remember - now retired I gather, living in Christchurch and hopefully just about to get back into windsurfing??
Had a good 1.5 hours of blasting before the water suddenly disappeared - couldn't be bothered derigging and going around to Avon beach as Bernie did (truth is I was too knackered!) but wandered round and had a chat to Claire who was out on her own OMWCwise - apart from Bernie - now there's a turn up for the books for you!
It was certainly a great start to the autumn! Unfortunately I'm off the New Zealand at the end of the month for the best pat of November so I'm going to miss a fair bit of it. Never mind I know which I'd rather do! Must get someone to host my Hayling event on 31st October though!

Some good blasting and trying to perfect the carve gybes. I lovely warm day for the time of year. Spent an hour in the harbout until the tide was too low, then went to Avon Beach for some more of the same.
