Bramblebush 17-18 July

Carl at Poole

Poole

Poole is one of the best windsurfing areas in England for beginners and intermediates due to the enormous expanse of shallow flat water in the harbour. There is plenty of variety for experts too. OMWC events are held at a number of different venues in Poole, so make sure you check the event information for the precise location where we will be meeting. Should the wind be in the wrong direction, it is easy to switch venues and to find somewhere where the wind is much better.

Event report Event report Event report for Bramblebush 17-18 July
Allegedly, high tide is 15:30, which is great, because you'll be able to enjoy the Bramblebush vibe in a mellow afternoon. Yes, waves are great, and some people think the road's too busy in the summer, but for me, parking up like a hippy on the roadside, making my way through the scrub and trees across the dunes, and then sailing across the pleasingly-shaped bay to Brownsea Island in summer sun is something really special. I can't wait!

Do you know, I found a beach in New Zealand that reminded me of Bramblebush?? The only problem was I had no kit, other than my harness and wetsuit. Curses. Don't make that mistake yourself - bring your kit and kick back in the evening at The Square and Compass in Worth Maltravers!

*** Forecast update - looks pretty low key wind-wise, but there's always thermal top-ups, and I'm going to be there anyway, whatever, so let's have a good time! ***

I too can't wait - carrying your kit over sand and through scrub reminds me of sailing at home in oz. We are coming - and Sebastian's girlfriend's mum used to work at the Worth Matravers pub when she was 17, and she's coming with us. Should be great! I want to sail to Brownsea and see a red squirrel. riddle me riddle me rot tot tot, if you tell me this riddle I will give you a groat. (now just what children's book does that come from???)

JohnG - I doubt I'll be down with you or even sailing this coming weekend - I think I'll be going to Essex to do some DIY on my mums house.....pitty as I've never sailed Bramblebush & you have painted a wonderful picture of it......really feel like I am missing out.

Hope you get some good wind......

We'll be there, may even come across Friday afternoon (after a sail at Avon first).

I'll be there. Planning to get a sail there today, should be water from 11:30, windy as well.
And looks like some wind tomorrow

BTW don't rely on pooleharbourweather, site is down.

Matt & I are planning on coming down this afternoon. Will sail at Hamworthy as low tide. Sailed there Wed night and it was OK. Will sleep at Square & Compass tonight if anyone coming down.

I can't make it today unfortunately. Is anyone planning to sail on Sunday? - forecast looks a bit better then too.
