Pagham 24-25 July

Pagham

Pagham is one of the better sideshore spots on the south coast as it faces SE which gives sideshore and kicks up some mellow waves in S-SSW-SW directions. Also one of the few south coast venues which is not bad in a NE-E, because the beach faces south-east. Best sailed mid tide on the push for waves.

High Tide 11:30

Pagham is best at high tide and just after, for sailing from the Sanctuary. If arriving later in the afternoon, sail from the Sailing Club. The pub is the Walnut Tree at East Runcton, and hopefully we will get to have some drinks and dinner in the garden again on a nice summers evening - and the food is very special here, above average and quite suited to those with a good palate - the veg and salad all locally grown; lots of herbs and spices. The fish cakes were the highlight last time.

If you haven't been to Pagham before, some indications of the quality of this spot: a former editor/tester of Boards chose this spot to live and as their local haunt; and one of the sanctuary 'beachhouses' has a colourful window display full of fins found on the sandbar.... And don't be put off by the fab foto of the Kiwi sailing here - that was in Nov autumn winds of force 8 with the best swell and wind strength and direction combo we have seen here for maybe a decade? But it is good here and bumpy.

If the wind direction suits, we will be here.

If not, and it really won't work here THEN we will try the nearby Witterings or Hayling... and will update you closer to the time when the forecasts start to be useful.

........don't think Nu & Lawrence will be making it - Xaviers 5th b-day & I think Nu has planned a small party for him over the weekend. Hope you all have a good one - looks like I missed out on a good Saturday at Bramblebush this part weekend.......I was stuck doing DIY at my mums in Essex ;-(

Beautiful combination of sunshine and force 5, or even slightly more, crossshore. We had a lovely time.
