Christchurch

Christchurch is a spectacular location on the Dorset coast, protected by the mile long Hengistbury Head the natural harbour offers relatively flat-water, excellent for learning or for days when the wind is off-shore at the beach. Alternatively, Avon Beach and Steamer Point offer great open sea sailing within Christchurch Bay

Helen and I are hosting this event and will be down at Mudeford from about midday on Saturday. Apparently there will be a fair on the grass so may be busy in the car park. I haven't booked the Globe because they won't take bookings of more than 4 on a table, so call me for social details on 07717 424222. The wind forecast on BBC is:

Coastal forecast for The Solent and Christchurch Bay

2010-08-14 1200 - 1759
Pressure - 1017 mB F
Temp max/min - 16/15 degrees C
Wind speed - F3-4 becoming F2-4
Wind direction - N
Max gust in knots - 18 becoming 14
Sea state - Wavelets
Visibility - Very good
Sig weather -

High tide 1pm and then it stays on a double-high till gone 5pm so lots of wet stuff in the harbour.

Update on Wed night: wind forecast on XC weather is now 14mph northerly for Sat so looking a bit better, but fingers crossed for some more wind.

More details on the social stuff to follow.

Update on Thurs night: The weather is now looking a bit ropey for the weekend in that it doesn't appear to be as windy or sunny on Saturday as the earlier forecasts were stating. The best day for both sun and wind appears to be Sunday, but no doubt it will change again by tomorrow night.

Can everyone who is intending to come down to Mudeford give me the nod, so that I have an idea of how many bums need placing on seats at the pub.

Update on Fri night: Well Saturday is looking like a good day to get yer decorating done! Plenty of showers and not a lot of wind, but why not come down for Saturday evening and have meal with us, and have a good day on Sunday, which is looking dry and the BBC is saying 14mph NE on the cards. My number is 07717 424222, so drop me a text or call me to let me know what yer up to......even if to tell me what shade of magnolia you have chosen.....

Just checked the forecasts and they all seem to agree that the wind will be best early on tomorrow. Going to try and get down there for 8am. Is anyone else going to be about at that time? Or does it depend on what happens in the pub tonight? ;)

Forecast for next 3 days:
