Hayling Island 30-31 October

Steve D at Hayling

Hayling Island

There are three windsurfing venues on Hayling but only the seafront is a serious contender as a venue worth visiting regularly. The other venues are only suitable in emergency situations, when it is impossible to windsurf on the sea front and, believe me, these situations arise! OMWC events often coincide with the Hayling Windsurf Car Boot Fair, on the first Sunday of the month, now held in the large car park behind the big dipper in the funfair with the Carousel cafe adjacent serving excellent breakfasts (thanks Stan!).

Well there are certainly some strong winds forecast over the next few days - unfortunately most of it is forecast to be due to be with us on Thursday and Friday and then Tuesday and Wednesday! Hopefully they will have got it wrong and we will see some of it over the weekend as well! For all those of you who fancy catching the last progammed event of the year, and making the most of the last weekend before the clocks go back, we'll be raring to go down on Hayling Island. Subject to wind I'll be down on the beach late morning both mornings and for a change I'm thinking of going to "Spice Island" on Saturday evening. This is a modern Indian restaurant on Elm Grove in Mengham just opposite the Hayling Billy pub. The plan is to meet in the Hayling Billy at 7.30 (beware the fancy dress Halloween party taking place in the pub!) There is unlimited parking for vans in the car park adjacent to the pub - access off St Marys Road - sitting down to eat at 8.00pm. If you are interested in joining us let me know and subject to numbers I'll confirm the plan/give you an update before the weekend.

Hi Mike - Juan is keen to sail out the last of the Britishsummertime, and hopefully it will be epic, so fingers crossed. See you there...

And of course, there is the necessity of meeting to decide about the AGM/Megabash location, content etc.

Damn. I have just packed all my kit up for Maui on Saturday. Bummer.

Wind's looking good for Saturday afternoon - 14knots southerly gusting to 19knots. That will do me! Sunday is not looking so good though so make sure you join us on Saturday - and let me know if you are going to join us at Spice Island Saturday evening. Mike

Was thinking of popping my Hayling cherry tomorrow. Is everyone planning to sail at "The Sea Front"?
