This Bank Holiday event started early for some - Juan and Gen rolled up late on Thursday evening, triplets fully locked and loaded, ready for some action, and Adam 'Dodgy' Dale took advantage of his unwaged state to start the fun early. Your trusty reporter, forced to drudge at the end of a railway line 5 days a week, arrived later on Saturday... but didn't miss the fun!

Saturday, Juan and Adam, along with loads of kite surfers and a couple of other windsurfers, were making the most of the cross-on wind and mushy waves. we know Juan was enjoying himself because he was out for four (4) hours and came back looking like he'd had someone stick their fingers in his eyes - bloodshot is a result here! John G joined them, and found some good action in the surprisingly powerful waves. However, a rapid descent early on cracked his board, but not enough to mak eit worth stopping. However, it was obviously not meant to be - after about an hour he went headfirst through his 5.5, and retired prematurely. Meanwhile, Juan sailed on...

There was some discussion around getting Gen out, but she saved herself for a better day - the wind was dropping and turning more directly onshore, which would have been much harder work. The instant bobsleigh team were having a good time, however...

An evening spent in the Beaver rewarded those not requiring childcare - Chris M and his mates (are they ALL called Chris?? - oh yes, Clive...), John n Jen, Adam showed up to hear the excellent lady singer. Pity she doesn't like Van the Man... or is it?

Sunday dawned, bright and late for most of us after a relaxed evening. It seemed windy, so most of us headed off for on-water action - Chris, what's this kanoo thing you've got going?? You need to get out more mate! But the wind was onshore and rather low-key, so it was out with the speedsails for those so equipped. Chris Who Appears At Westward Ho rolled up and rigged a 6.0, pretty chunky for a speedsail, while John G and Gen went smaller, before Juan also had a go. Great speedsail conditions, very dry firm sand, constant wind - almost a pity not to be sailing, especially as the sun was out a lot of the time!

Juan and Gen had to leave, and John and Jen were forced to by a van outage, which meant they couldn't turn the engine off, once started, until they got home early Monday morning!! Monday itself was pretty windless, with land-based activity like cycling occupying the forces. If you were there, please comment to let folks know what happened.

Summing up, a nice weekend, good to get out, good company, great to see everyone and hey, great opportunity to invest in some new kit, eh, John??

Pulled into Northam having stopped off in Westward Ho! to check out the food situation - wow, the Potwallopers festival was in full swing, a very scarey event altogether! The sea was in a messy state, but some swell evident. Adam and Juan in full blast, along with some others, so rigged up something floaty-ish and a sensible sail. Managed to crack the nose of the board in the first 10 minutes, but then cracked this backside riding thing, and started to have a really good time. Heck, boards are a disposable item right?? However, after an hour or so managed to trip over a wave on the way out and headbutted the sail, right in the above-boom panel - BANG! Poo. Tilt, game over. Retired to have my picture taken by Gen and the triplets announce my destructive nature to Papa Juan. Darn it, just getting going too...
