June 27/8 Pagham SUP-ping in the sunshine

The Walnut Tree
Scene of the evening antics

The great thing about Pagham is the quiet and unstressful nature of this beach. The birds kept us company. Not a whisper of wind, so Justin SUP-ed for glory: upstream as the tide was outgoing - so quite challenging, actually! He also snorkelled. He carried his 8 metre and big board down and we sat on the board bags. He IS action-man. Most others pottered around the shoreline enjoying the sunshine. Steve basked as the last week of being seat bound with a cast needed to be eked out - he would have lots to catch up on once the cast came off. There was just enough air movement on the beach to make us feel just comfortable despite the general heat - delightful after the scorching baking elsewhere. The water was lovely and perfect for Free Swimming - the latest UK craze - why not actually swim in the water you find around and about? (you can even find books on it!!!) The Walnut Tree excelled itself in the food stakes as usual - we sat in the warm evening out in the garden, watching the kids play and imbibing gently. The fish cakes were amazing. We resolve to visit Pagham more often, just to come to The Walnut Tree afterwards. A wonderful event.
