Boujmaa had a go at triple forwards at Ho'okipa yesterday off mast + waves. He knocked himself out on impact with the water, started sinking as had inhaled water. Luckily was rescued just in time. After a night in hospital he's fine.

No travel insurance - he's been landed with a US$10K hospital bill :(

I seem to be finding that just getting round once is a hard enough struggle for me. After a cracked up board and a slightly sore back I thought I'd had a hard day yesterday, this kind of thing puts it all into proper perspective though. "Rispec" as the kids would say.

Was chatting to Klaas Voget and Victor Fernandez at a BBQ tonight. Seems that Klass and Victor both saw Boujmaa do a huge stalled jump (~15m) and rotate 2.5 times. His head hit the sail which knocked him out. Klass was first to get to B, and performed CPR on him in the water and managed to get him breathing whilst Victor went to get the lifeguards.

Boujmaa still in hospital - apparently as there is water still in his lungs there is still a risk of drowning so needs to be kept in under observation.

He's incredibly lucky not to have hit his head on the mast, and equally incredibly lucky to be alive.

Seems he does have insurance, but not the $10K to pay the bill whilst sorting out the claim.

As Carl says; rispec.
