Not as windy as forecast but by the end of the afternoon I had switched to a smaller board and could have been on my 4.7m. It was a shame about the fishermen turning up and casting their lines right where everyone was sailing.

Good to see OMWC out on the beach. Wind was up and down to start with but filled in nicely. Thought there would be more shore break as the tide came in but not as bad as usual. Good fun. We missed the later sail as we had fiends staying - will be interesting to hear what it was like.

Fiends eh?! The devil you say... must've been hell!

You didn't miss much at the later sailing session, I got about a 15 minute slot where the water flattened and beforethe wind died, - but it was good for that 15 minutes.

Oh, and we de-rigged in a hail storm !

A day of two halves... First half before high tide, usefully windy, various OMWCers out. Went up looking for the waves that Juanito had been playing on, but by the time I got there the tide had come in a bit and they'd faded out or were doing that weird "random peak" thing as the different directions cancelled or reinforced each other - basic wave theory! Still had a good time!

A wonderfully co-operative exercise over lunch (by the way, thanks Andrew! Dropping and stepping on my sandwich was never a good plan...) involved resin, glassfibre, bolts, nuts, deckplates and Juan's somewhat used battleship board. Everyone had a go, but eventually it all worked out - get your wetsuit on Leuda!

The second session (does that count as a separate diary entry?) was after high tide - monster current! Th wind had dropped, there were still some lines of waves but much smaller. Had a bash around in the flatter conditions, a few jumps that were fairly floaty. Only a few OMWCers out, nobody else, eventually stopped when the wind dropped and it started to hail. Nice day. Thanks guys!

Matt & I decided to sail up Southampton river to the boat show. Perfect wind and direction.
Moored on pontoon next to 50' yachts. Free entry. How cool is that.
Then we were asked to leave.......
Good run back.

After a 6 week enforced absence (apart from the bank holiday weekend) got down the beach in time for the late post high tide session and things were looking good. Sun, wind and a posse of OMWCites repairing Juan's old board by committee - remarkably with some success! The water didn't flatten off till about 6.00pm and I went for my small board and 5.7 sail - which was just perfect for 15 minutes or so - until the wind dropped. I switched on to my bigger board and was planing again but only for another 15 minutes or so. Came in and ended up derigging in a torrential shower - complete with thunder and lightening effects! Still enjoyed what bit of a sail I had.

I was determined to get out before the tide got too high, managed to get out by 10:30, but the wind was a bit up and down. It filled in nicelly around midday and I had a very enjoyable hour.

Then we had the afternoon loooong lunch break, including the planned board repair (with a few unplanned problems). We got there in the end, just in time for an evening sailing session, wich started well, tghen the win dropped and ended up de-rigging in hail, what fun.

A good session at Bracklesham with 3-4 foot waves sufficient to get a few nice rides. The break opposite the car park was jacking up nicely at high tide and a lot of surfers taking advantage. Wind was up and down but it was good fun - got a bit crowded waiting with all the surfers at the bus stop for the next set to come through but thankfully their a chilled bunch down there.

Dropped in at Hayling on the way back and good to catch up with everyone.

Snuck a couple of hours in this afternoon, in between taking kids shopping in Bournemouth. Helen was chuffed that she pulled off 31 of her 32 gybes (not that she was counting), and I had a few decent planing gybes; such a nice feeling.
