I am telling you all about this as I have agreed to act as an Ambassador for the NWF (and NSUPF). I agreed to be an ambassador, not because I was promised a pyramid of Ferrero Rochers, but because I really do believe that it is an event which deserves to be supported. Here's why...

NWF is the ONLY windsurfing event on the calendar which is designed for and around the ordinary "Weekend Warrior" freeride windsurfer. Racing and events usually require specific (expensive!) equipment and involve complicated, timed starts and rules. Allan, the NWF organiser, wanted to move away from this and organise an event in which literally anyone could take part; where the spectator really could become the competitor.

Allan told me that his vision of NWF is that "It should be fun, cheap and based around intermediates" - with lots of emphasis on the FUN!

Where else could you see a tiger get a podium finish in a windsurf race? Or four generations of a family competing in the same race? Or people on the start-line of a race saying ?After you.? ?No, really. After you!?? Or Roberto Ricci (the R.R. - and Designs!) in RRD, presenting a prize to a Ninja turtle?

But, aside from the triumphant turtles and tigers, what else can you expect to find at NWF and what is included in the entry fee? How about;

- The largest UK trade show, with the latest 2013 kit to view and demo.
- Simple 'out and back' Master Blaster races. The only rule is to round the buoy however you can! Uphaul/beach start, gybe/tack/swim around a buoy, land - then run to the finish line! If you have never tried racing, this non-intimidating format is your best opportunity to release your inner competitor. Out and back and race your mates a bit - we all do that every weekend!
- Race categories for all ages, genders and any type or age of equipment, including pre-1985!
- FREE tuition with the best in the business, both on and off water - with Simon Bornhoft, Peter Hart, Jim Collis, Ant Baker, Jem Hall and Dave White.
- One for the Ladies - FLOW (For Ladies of Watersports) will be there offering race tactics, coaching, chatting, chilling and chocolate brownies!
- The incredible and unique, floodlit NIGHT WINDSURF!
- Ltd Edition NWF Rash Vest for the first 300 competitors to enter.
- Oodles of great prizes donated by the industry.
- AWESOME BEACH PARTIES - on both Friday and Saturday nights, with live bands.
- Charity Auction for W4CR (Windsurfing for Cancer Research) on Friday
- Spirit FM Live Roadshow on Saturday

Make sure that you don?t miss out on the greatest celebration of our sport in the UK, which has expanded to run over 3 days this year. Put the dates in your diary and come along and be part of it! Friday is devoted to the trade show, equipment demos, manufacturers' presentations and the guru clinics, which will be longer and may incorporate sessions on the water as well as the land-based coaching. The racing will take place on Saturday and Sunday, alongside the trade show, coaching and all the other excitement. The great community atmosphere and the opportunity to immerse yourself in all things windsurfing will be available throughout!

Parking is free for competitors. For more details, the latest news or to book your place, see www.nationalwindsurfingfestival.com or get regular updates on the NWF Facebook page. Online entry opens from 1st June 2012

Thank you for listening. I hope to see you there!
