On the water at 5pm and what a session. Missed the sandbar swell by about 1 hour but still good in the high tide. More controlled nopw back on SW winds. Could'nt quite nail the backloops but good air time. Amazed only 4 of us out.

Diary entry for Rory.

Dad took me out to the centre of the harbour. Not enough wind for him, so he had to follow me round in the surf canoe. Good to see so many other children at an OMWC event. Miles and Adam both had a go on my kit after I had finished.

Saturday was great in a "beach picnic in the sun" type of way, can't believe so many people showed up, it was great to catch up with everyone. Some of the kids had a good sail, I think, and the rest of us a good picnic.

Sunday was very wet in the morning which was actually no bad thing as I was a bit delicate from a party the night before. By early afternoon the rain had gone and there was a strong Easterly wind blowing, so we went down to the harbour. Perfect 4.7m weather on the other side, just me, Nigel, Sheena and the usual locals out I think the rain earlier must have put everyone else off.

Just to add some more detail on the weekend. It was great to see lots of families enjoying the sunny and surprisingly warm weather on Saturday, but there was little wind, so we socialised and chatted most of the afternoon, with the kids being entertained by enthusiastic, but then increasingly weary, dads. It was great to see Lawrence, Nuala and kids, Dave and Tricia and kids, Dave and Sheena and kids, Kev and Alison and kids, and Yannis and Sarah and kids; also Mark and Jackie. 16 of us made it to the Cat and Fiddle for a meal.

As Carl said, most people believed the weather forecast and thought it would rain all day, but Carl being the canny local lad knew better and managed to get out. Hats off to Kev and Sheena too for getting out in such gnarly conditions.

Well that was a weekend to remember! Two firsts for the Marcou family:

1. We pitched our tent in the dark. Yes it can be done!
2. We packed our tent in the rain. Yes, we can now do this too.

By Sunday morning though Sarah's curses were coming down on me heavier than the rain!

The last straw was Sunday night when we arrived home and had to dry a soaked quiver bag, 6 sails, two board bags and a tent!

Despite the above, it was great to see everyone. The kids had a great time too. Nuala and Lawrence saved the day (and the weekend) with their hospitality, custom-made syrup, pancakes, garden tour, etc.

Helen almost convinced Sarah to take up windsurfing! Almost...
