Bit of an anticlimax after the last couple of sessions.
Loads of holes in the wind and I started off pretty tired before I even hit the water - so I called it a day quite early on. Got a few decent jumps but not much else to write home about.

Unfortunately didn't make the megabash but came down on the Saturday. Started rigging a 5.9m and then changed my mind to a 5.3m. However a couple of runs on the 5.3m and I changed down to the 4.7m. It was mega-gusty due to there being quite a bit of North in the wind direction. It did mean it was very flat by the shore but on the sandbar there was some interesting refraction of waves. Not really a classic day but at least it was warm.

After a million texts, managed to miss you, sorry. We went for a walk along the beach instead (Actually, I never really intended to sail - too hungover). Looked good, but very gusty

A great start to the year. Got down to Hayling to find Genevieve and John out and Juan on the beach with the boys. It is not often that Juan persuades me to take a smaller sail than I was initially planning - but it was a very good shout - thanks Juan!
4.7m and a floaty board was a perfect set-up with some beautiful lines of swell backlit by sunlight and clear skies - something which seems to have been in scarce supply over the Christmas period.
Had a great couple of hours before the wind dropped off. Rounded off nicely with a cup of tea and cake from the Hierro-mobile.

Thought I'd better not stray too far from home given that Jane is 38 weeks pregnant. Also, if I am honest, I had a sneaky feeling that Hillhead would be better than Hayling today - SSE is pretty much cross shore at Hillhead (and tends to be nicely accelerated by funnelling along the Solent).
I wasn't disappointed. Initially went out on my 99l freestyle board and 5.3m. It started a bit marginal, became well powered, and then became uncomfortably overpowered. Switched to a smaller board and 4.7m and immediately got the biggest jumps I've ever had at Hillhead. Not sure if it was the favourable angle of the chop to the wind or whether its because I prefer port tack jumping (probably a bit of both).
A great afternoon.. and a beautiful sunny day. Just a shame a didn't manage to meet up with everyone at Hayling.

First time I had been to Yaverland. Despite my expectations, the wind direction wasn't too bad, albeit slightly offshore. Beautiful day, sandy beach, shorty was fine - so why was my sail so bad? My harness broke within 5 minutes and it was the only thing I didn't have a spare of :(:(:(

Started on a 5.9m but fairly quickly changed to a 5.3m. Later on it dropped a bit but the 5.3m still kept going. The sun shone most of the afternoon and yet again I proved that the best time to go to Hillhead is mid to high tide.

A somewhat grey, gusty and cold day at Hayling. Rigged a 5.3 which was perfect some of the time, but rather overpowered in some of the gusts. Also was feeling a bit under the weather so had one of those sails when nothing really clicked. Mustn't grumble, at least there was wind!

Less wind and less waves today - probably a good thing although I got taken out more today than any other day - not sure if this was complacency or fatigue. However pretty magical to go on windsurfing into the sunset (7pm local time).

Even more wind, even more waves. Waves now shoulder to head high with the video session looking like carnage. Some really good wave riding from the locals and not-so-locals. If you mistimed your run out the consequences were pretty severe! Wind a bit fickle in the impact zone so you had to be careful...

More wind and still a decent swell. Under Guy's tuition (or should that be 'intuition'?) hooked in jumps etc became a lot better - just as well given the state of my hands! The locals from the centre were getting some very impressive jumps in. Plenty of wind made getting through the impact zone that bit easier.
