The day started windless and swell-less but ended up as a great day at a number of levels. Early afternoon the wind came up. Started on my new Skate and yesterday's early impressions were reinforced in planing winds. Surprisingly better in the gybe than my old skate, nice to jump and more forgiving. Even got an upwind 360 on a breaking wave which I was very happy with. Being a freestyle board it was not so good in waves and when we spotted waves being kicked up on a point break I changed to my Simmer Triwave which I was yet to use in proper waves and that was also great, loads of bite in the turn resulted in me getting a few decent rides.
So a successful day - 2 new boards put through their paced for the first time and both exceeded expectations.

Day one in Ireland. Due to SE wind and swell the Cribby Crew assembled in Waterville (3hrs from Brandon Bay) to find no swell and v light winds. I had a new board and sail to try - new skate 110 and new Volt. Despite it not really being planing conditions the Skate felt great. Much shorter than my old one but all the volume very central and forgiving. Upwind 360s much easier.
After a long overnight drive/ferry it was just nice to get wet and to feel we had done something worthwhile before the inevitable Guinesses in the evening.
