Back onto my 'home' set-up. However a combination of wind being a bit too light and my ribs being a bit too sore to pump onto the plane meant I didn't spend much time planing. Hope for more wind tomorrow.

Fantastic day in Costa Teguise.
Wind much cleaner than the last few days. My 5.3 was a little marginal early on but by the end of my morning session and throughout the afternoon session it was well powered.
Tried the Fanatic 'stubby; ST Freewave 105 - what a board! Dead short, parallel rails but a turning circle to die for - caught me a out a few times on the gybe. Tacking a little more technical and with most of the volume under the footstraps you had to be careful how you landed big jumps as the board doesn't necessary sink like other similar volume boards - and there were quite a few big jumps today.
The short length definitely enhanced my forward loop attempts and I was consistently rotating. I think previously I was trying to rotate before I had enough height. However all of these shenanigans didn't help my ribs that I bruised yesterday in a silly catapult - think I will be on the painkillers tomorrow!
Joined late on by Tonky Frans, underlining again why this place is so good: you have beginners out in the bay (and a little beyond) and have world renowned sailors on the point only a few metres away.

Skate 110 and Volt 5.9 in fact my usual light wind set up. Wind wasn't as much as anticipated but got going albeit it took a bit of pumping and the hydrofoils looked liked they were having the better time of it.

Solid day in Costa Teguise. Windy but a bit patchy however 5m was a good choice both morning and afternoon.
Morning, well late morning - our flight was somewhat delayed so it had been a late night, was flattish but more swell in the afternoon as lower tide. And some great ramps from time to time. Roll on the rest of the week!

Last day in Costa Teguise and a marathon last session on the water - 1pm until 5.15pm non-stop. 5.9m was the perfect size for the wind but perhaps a little large for the loops I was trying. Was managing to rotate so I ended up looking back at the beach but not getting all the way around. I think more speed (= more bravery) and more rig movement is required but at least I appear to have got the basic mechanics. Also the realisation that rotating in the air, although scarier, is less painful than attempting to rotate with the fin firmly planted in the sea.

Another great week in Lanzarote - not Costa Teguise at its most epic but very enjoyable sailing all the same...

Impressed that you're trying loops. Puts me to shame!!

Today looked like it would be a no-wind day but eventually got out on the 6.4m at about 4.30pm - consistently planing out the back with the wind in a far more side-shore direction. Only an hour but it was nice to get out and very few people made it out today.

Bit lighter than yesterday but 5.6m did the job. Move of the day was an upwind 360 which cumulated in the UJ separating from the board on exit - suspect I couldn't repeat that little trick - will have to come up with a fancy name...
Only downside of this session was the wind turning offshore in dramatic fashion. One second I was fully powered next second completely backloaded by my apparent wind. Then followed a bit of a slog to get back in, but mustn't grumble - 'worse trouble at sea'and all that...

Full power 5.6m day today - could have been on a 5m but after the fickle wind of last couple of days didn't want to get caught out.
Still not big on the wave front but good for freestyle - although damn those downwind 360s - so elusive. Was on a new sail to me: North Hero hybrid -interchangeable between 4 and 5 battens. Seemed pretty good in 5 batten mode which is the centre's default setting, still very soft and compact and surprisingly felt very different to a similar size 5 batten Volt.
A great afternoon's fully powered sailing in the sun

Probably similar wind to yesterday but 5.9m much more fun than 6.4m - more throwabout and pumpable.
Planing took quite a bit of effort despite the sponsored Italian who was no lightweight going on a 4.8m. Remembered how to do upwind 360s and tried to remember how you are supposed to do gecko flakas - failed miserably

Day one back in Costa Teguise. Probably not as windy as back in Blighty but what's not to like about being out in the sun in a shorty on my favourite board. Didn't get out until 4pm after an afternoon of bodyboarding so a nice warm up for hopefully more wind and waves later in the week.
