Been a while since I sailed at Avon Beach but I was left in no doubt that today was a classic. A couple of the gang from Ireland persuaded me down to Avon. Very well spaced, clean waves - and nice and flat between them. Wind somewhat gusty. The 4.7 started off ok but I should have been on something smaller towards the end. If only my sailing had been in keeping with the conditions but I never quite found my groove. Still a very memorable day though.

It was good whilst it lasted.. but only lasted 10min before the wind swung too northerly. Spent a fair amount of time hoping it would swing back, but to no avail.
Good to see Carl and Ed.. but all-in-all pretty much a wasted trip.

Took an impromptu day off work on the back of a decent forecast. And it didn't disappoint - maybe the wind was a little lighter than expected but the sun shone all day.
Joined Carl down at Christchurch which was surprisingly uncrowded. The wind blew all day and 5.5 was the perfect size.
Saw Carl do plenty of 360s but I didn't manage any today.

Does nobody work in Christchurch? Managed a day off and joined Carl at Avon Beach. Lighter winds here than elsewhere along the coast, but it didn't disappoint. By midday I counted 50 people out (this was a Friday in November remember!).
A solid 4 hours sailing - and really warm considering the time of year (or was it just that my last sail was particularly chilly...)

Finally sailed my new (Feb!) waveboard for the first time! Very comfortable in the lumpy water, tricky to gybe given its narrow outline.
Great to see new dads Roger Taylor and Juan out!! Definitely wasn't a day to be missed!

As Andrew says, a very pleasant afternoon - especially as it was my first time out for many weeks! Wind a bit light for a 6m but the big board kept me going....

Bit more wind today - so some blasting and some more freestyle. Got my first downwind 360!

After too many weeks with no wind, what an antidote! 5m weather, waves and sun all day - for as long as you could hold on. It's been far too long since I last sailed Avon Beach - I am definitely going to try and sail there more regularly now.. Never did get my new waveboard out, but that's because I was having too good a time on my old one....
