The conditions weren't scintillating but it is always a pleasure to sail at the summerbash with good company on dead flat water. Unfortunately the wind dropped off pretty quickly (although didn't feel like that when I was trying to light my BBQ an hour later).
A number of us participated in a somewhat bizarre semi-rescue which resulted from two young children falling off a catamaran and indeed I believe it was Lawrence who righted the catamaran.

Another lovely summerbash weekend which seemed to be enjoyed by adults and children alike - indeed on Sunday the kids on/in the water definitely outnumbered the parents!

As Nigel said, rain and no wind forecast and instead we got scorching sun and wind. Still a bit gusty in the lagoon but would have been a shame to have trekked all the way to the other side of the spit.
Stuck to my board this time which proved adequate. Followed Beachaddict's lead and tried a few lame vulcan attempts (mine, not Beachaddict's). Escaped with no ankle injury which I think is always a measure of success when trying vulcans.
Got a decent few hours in and only stopped when a harness line broke - can now see the logic of transparent harness line tubes!

A great weekend - thanks to John for his remote organisation and Andrew for his not-so-remote organisation!

Summerbash weekend so despite the wind being full of holes it would have been a shame not to have gone out. Turns out there were more holes than wind so in the end I took the kids' board. Nice wide, high volume board - perfect - other than the sun lotion had turned it into an ice rink. Anyway, this worked rather better than my Skate in the light wind, ice rink or not...

Didn't really get ourselves sorted in time to get down to Bramblebush - didn't fancy the wait for the chain ferry but it was a shame to miss everyone.
So instead we went to Lepe hoping to catch the best of the Easterlies. After a little wait we got a decent breeze at high tide - mega flat so it was great for freestyle practice. Beautifully sunny - a really enjoyable hour or so. As the tide turned and started running with the wind it got a little more tricky to keep going, so called it a day.

A pretty grey day which didn't really brighten up at any point, however there was plenty of wind! 5.5m was a bit much at times - my 5m would have been a bit more appropriate.
Still it was nice to have good, well-powered up sailing. And nice to see a good turnout. Given the weather, Jane and Nayra opted for the cinema rather than the beach so I headed back for bathtime.

A surprisingly good sail considering the fickle wind and the deep mud off Calshot. It was a shame there wasn't a bit more wind as the completely flat water would have been great for making more progress on my 360s.
Plenty of sun and great company made up for this.

We decided to join Andrew at Lepe before pitching our tent at Calshot. It was a glorious afternoon and the wind eventually tempted me out for a very short 45min session. There was enough wind to plane and my shorty saw the light of day for the first time in a couple of years.

never really got planing, and spent most of the time dodging the sandbars. I should stress that the rating only refers to the quality of the sailing rather than the assembled company on the beach!

The wind was pretty gusty due to there being quite a bit of North in it but this made it very flat on the inside - great for a bit of freestyle practice.
Spent a bit of time off the plane in the lulls, but the 5.5m was perfect when the wind was up.
Made good progress on both upwind and downwind 360s - finally figured out what I had been doing wrong on the downwinders.
Nicely rounded off with a good meal at the Forest Home.

Nice varied conditions - horribly bumpy on the outside (especially on a big board) but absolutely flat on the inside - becoming more so as the tide went out. Of course if you wanted flat all the way then there was always the lagoon for most of the day.

Pimms and doughnuts was a novel combination - but worked very well!!
