After a week of wild weather got down to Hillhead to find blue sky and sun! Initially rigged my 5.9 but one run with this on my freestyle board persuaded me to switch to my 5.3 and smaller board. This turned out to be a great combination and it was the first time of using my platinum mast. I am pleased to say that the high carbon content was noticeable both in weight and responsiveness. Unfortunately I had to end my session a little early as I managed to fling myself onto the boom, resulting in quite a winding and very painful ribs. Still, it did mean that I had packed up just as the heavens opened, so mustn't grumble too much.

Went down to Hillhead and had what I am pretty sure will be my last sail of 2012. 5.3 and my Freewave - which is starting to become my favourite combo.
5.3m was the perfect size although at times I was very powered up. This was my 3rd sail on my 'new' board and I am growing to love it. I have to say, compared to my old JP it has taken a bit of getting used to - I think due to the much shorter length and much more wave orientation. It's a more active ride but the board does so much more. In particular, with gybes you really can go for virtually any sort of arc you want and the board just grips all the way around. Roll on 2013!
