National Windsurfing Championships 2018
Iona receiving her trophy from Guy Cribb having come first in her fleet (4.5m)

Morocco on 15/05/10

Rating:2 star rating
Board:133 litres

After the strong winds of the previous day we thought the weather system had settled down and that we would get decent wind on our last day. Unfortunately the taxi left at 11am and the wind appeared at about 10:15. Still, it would have been rude not to have had a last blast.

Unfortunately any wavesailing kudos I may have gained during the week disappeared as I rode a very small wave back to the beach. I had of course forgotton I was on a big board with a big fin. The fin grounded and I got dumped over the front into the white water. I guess that is what happens when you don't treat a wave with the respect it deserves...

Anyway, overall a great week. I would love to return for more windy days at Essaouira. That said, the first few days certainly had their own challenges and presented a much "purer" form of waveriding - albeit a type of waveriding best attempted on someone else's kit!
