A great day at Hayling. Sun shining, plenty of wind and the tide just right. Could have changed down but hung on to the 6m for dear life. Strange sailing out on port tack as it was a south-easterly. Thanks to John G for discouraging me from going to Calshot and to Carl and Marion for their company and the tea. Good to catch up with Clair after way too long as well.

Saturday :- had a look at the sea side- seemed pretty windy so opted for the harbour were the OM group were already rigging up. Had only brought a six and smaller as I foolishly believed the forecast. Could have done with bigger as the wind was full of holes. Got planing a good few times in the gusts. A lovely day none the less and good to see old friends, Pete D, Nige Sand John V.

First sail in almost 18 months and what a day to re-start. Arrived at Lepe at 11:30 with sunny skies and and the wind building and no one else out. Remembered how to rig up ! and had a few good blasts including a couple of pretty fair gybes. Came in just as Carl and Marion arrived. It seems they brought the wind with them as it really started to blow. Changed down to a 5.3 but even that was too much as the squalls came through. Good to be out and have the company of Carl, Marion and John G.
First time out for my new custom fit winter suit by Snugg of Cornwall. Highly recommended.

Beat the Bank Holiday crowds for a Friday sail at Avon Beach - the first for many months. Had a couple of good runs and could even remember how to gybe. Came in for a breather and a chat with Marion and got back out just as the wind started to die. So it was your fault Marion ! Nice sunny day plus a bonus to catch up with old friends.

Wednesday afternoon...... enticed down to Avon beach by a mouthwatering forecast and the siren call of Carl of Avon..... " Wind building - going back home to get my kit ". Yes, you guessed - by the time I got there the wind was becoming flukey and I was in and out changing boards all day. Still, I nice day out at the beach even if it did start drizzling as I was packing up.
A nice cup of tea and a Chelsea bun at Carl's rounded off a "Grand Day Out" - more Cheese Grommit?

The first sail of the season. Got to the Avon beach car park just as the wind was dropping. Opted for my biggest sail -6m - and board( 99Ltr ). Sadly not eneough to punch through Avon's famous rip. Bobbed about with the occassional bit of planing followed by the inevitable walk of shame back up wind.
Hey-Ho at least the sun ahone and it was good to have the company of Carl, Marion, Monty, Adam and Roger and family.
Memo to self.... take all of your kit with you you plonker - how long have you been doing this lark??

August Bank Holiday Monday.... Couldn't make Devon so made for that notorious venue - Avon Beach !!! Could this be the same place that had so meanly trashed our Andrew ? Dead calm due to lack of wind and what there was had some west in it. Went round to the harbour and blobbled around a bit with the occasional "in the straps" moment. Gave it up as a bad job just as the the wind picked up - Hey Oh!
P.S. Get well soon Andrew

Saturday - a great day once I'd got the right sail up. Not too lumpy for Lepe either. Good to see so many club members out having a good time.

Sunday 29th. First time out in ages. Got to Lepe at mid day - clear blue sky - white caps - nobody out!!. Spent two hours blasting about with only one other local for company. Very lumpy on the way out but great on the way in. Followed the said local across to the Island - maxed out all the way. Great but not recommended for the faint hearted - remember Paul Mac!!??. Sorry couldn't get over to Worthing due to limited time.

My first outing on the water for many a month. 6m and a 99ltr board. Great fun for most of the day with only the occasional wobble as the wind dropped off. There was some debate between Jonathon and me as to who was the wind jinx - the late comer Andrew or the even later comer Mike T. Fortunately the wind seemes to pick up againg and my last memory of the beach was of three happy Ocean Motioners far out to sea having a good time.
PS. Did anyone notice how the beach has changed at Avon. Where has the sand bar gone? Probably global warming - it gets blamed for every thing else.
