That's a proper brochure shot if ever I saw one! I trust you will be selling it to your employers :)

.....naaaahhhhh - in the 'brochure' shot they remembered to fit the hub caps ;)

Besides, have you not noticed that the powers that be in Ford only push pick-ups (Ranger) in the windsurfing press......all the other van manufacturers worked out ages ago that windsurfers want vans, Mercedes advertise the vito, VW the T5, but Ford the Ranger.......I had a major falling out with the person responsible, I told them to go down to any windsurfing beach in the summer & they will see fleets of vans & in over 25 years of windsurfing I've only known 1 person use a pickup & he even said it was far from ideal, but he was stuck with a pcikup due to his work. I find it frustrating when clearly I know better on this subject than the media people & they don't want to listen because "Engineers don't do marketing". I've subsequently let them waste their advertising budget on pushing pickups on windsurfers who don't want them.

do I sense some frustration here :)
Perhaps you should supply the email / phone number of the marketing person responsible and we could do a petition....

.....oh, did the frustration show??? ;)

I don't think it would do much good creating a petition - it was not just me at work who was contacting them on this subject, I have windsurfing colleagues within Ford too (who sail on East coast up in Essex), so I was not just a lone voice.

I also contacted the same people about making marketing vehicles available to the windsurfing press (Boards & Windsurf mag) for the next round of 'ultimate windsurfing van', but I was told that they are probably insignificant publication mounting to only a few thousand.....so I contacted Boards & they advised their publication was at the time around 45,000 per month distributed in a number (I can't recall) of countries around the world. Passed this (& Boards Press pack) onto our media people & they still dismissed it.

Being a logical Engineer, to me, windsurfers are a target rich community for retail (not fleet) vans.

Fleet customers tend to enjoy bigger discounts than individuals, so I think it would be better business to sell fewer retail vans with better profit margins, than more vans to fleets at less profit margin.

I think it better to advertise to a smaller publication with more potential customers than to a larger publication with fewer potential customers.

I think the example I used is Boards at 45,000 where a large percentage are potnetial van owners vs advertising in Cosmopolitan with 100K+? publication with a fraction of a percent (if that much!) of potential customers.

So the up shot is another year of 'ultimate windsurfer vans' in our press with Transit not being very well represneted.......SO, I wrote my own 'Transit - ultimate windsurfers van' article.........it should be coming to a website near to your heart shortly......stay tuned!
