Got down to the beach at low tide to find everyone out on anything from 5.5s to 6.9s. Having only got a 5.7 in that range I decided to go for my 7.4 - not the best of choices in hindsight! After being somewhat overpowered for an hour or so I bit the bullet and re-rigged my 5.7 - which turned out to be fine most of the time :) The water was positively warm and the skies blue - until you looked over to the South Downs where you could see the torrential rain, black skies and occasional forks of lightening! Very dramatic. Great to see so many oceanmotionites enjoying the superb conditions.

Made it down to Bramblebush for my first sail of the year on Saturday. Wind was marginal and offshore but enough to get planing for an hour or so - most enjoyable - and what glorious weather - which generated a great turn out. It was a great to see everyone - particularly the new members - and what an evening for a barbeque. Well done Juan with the fire pit - and to everyone's contribution towards the fuel! Sunday was equally brilliant - but with no wind so headed home later morning.

Got to Esso Beach early, with the tide still only part way in, and the conditions were manic. Despite some frenzied rigging of my 98 JP Freestyle wave and 5.7 sail the wind had dropped before I could get out! Put the kettle on to wait and see what was going to happen - and after more frigging with the rigging ended up going out on my 140 Free Diamond 70 and 7.4 which was pretty well spot on. Had less than an hour though before it dropped again, after which I couldn't get planing so decided to call it a day - glorious weather though and despite it being a northerly it really wasn't particularly cold - and the water temperature was also quite acceptable. My last UK sail for 2011 as I'm off to New Zealand on 1st December for the month :)

Started off on my 98 JP Freestyle Wave but never broke the surface! So, fed up with playing submarines changed up on to my 140 AHD Free Diamond 70 - which coincided with a step change in wind speed - as a result of which I was pretty well overpowered and bouncing around like a super ball! Still it was good fun. Came in after an hour or so to change back onto the smaller board but apart from Juan, Genevieve and the boys, Heather and Bill and John Gouk, Sue and Audrey turned up we we resorted to tea in my van instead! Very civilised - followed by a very pleasant evening in the Yew Tree

Despite the really encouraging forecast there was very little wind as I drove down to Lepe but when I got there everyone was out on 5.3 - 5.7s - the Solent was doing its usual funnelling trick. I couldn't see my 5.7 coping with my 16 stone though so I rigged my trusty old 7.4 - and was I glad I did. The wind dropped when I was over at Gurnard - not enough to be a problem but enough to be glad I'd got my 7.4! Still it was a glorious sunny afternoon, the water was not cold and despite the wind it was quite balmy - and almost November! What a great way to spend the afternoon :)

The forecasted winds didnt materialise Sunday afternoon so went with my 5.7 but put it on the Free Diamond 70 - not an ideal combination - but one that certainly worked well enough! Had a great afternoon despite the South Easterly wind creating some very strange conditions. Good to see quite a few other Ocean Motionites out as well -but where were the rest of you? It was a lovely day - warm wind and the water temperature still quite pleasant. Hope to see you at Lepe next weekend - clocks back time and the end of this seasons formal events

Wind looked a bit marginal Saturday afternoon so rigged my 8.0m - and had a great time - despite the wind being almost due southerly. It was a gorgeous day although the wind had a definite bite to it and the water was refreshing! Shame there weren't a few more members out enjoying themselves but Nick, Andrew, Clare and myself all went to the Yew Tree - and thoroughly enjoyed their lamb shanks!

Well, the forecasted wind never really appeared but despite that I had a most enjoyable Sunday afternoon blasting back and forth, with warm water and a warm wind! Add to it a fair bit of sunshine a magnificant sunset and lots of other Ocean Motionites and what more could you ask for!

After a 6 week enforced absence (apart from the bank holiday weekend) got down the beach in time for the late post high tide session and things were looking good. Sun, wind and a posse of OMWCites repairing Juan's old board by committee - remarkably with some success! The water didn't flatten off till about 6.00pm and I went for my small board and 5.7 sail - which was just perfect for 15 minutes or so - until the wind dropped. I switched on to my bigger board and was planing again but only for another 15 minutes or so. Came in and ended up derigging in a torrential shower - complete with thunder and lightening effects! Still enjoyed what bit of a sail I had.

Had a great sail Saturday afternoon in Portland Harbour - just didn't want to stop but when my arms felt as if they had been pulled out of their sockets and cramp set in I decided it was time to call it a day. Despite promising weather reports the same conditions didn't repeat themselves on Sunday with the wind remaining illusive. Still, an excellent weekend with a good turn out - and many thanks being due once again to Nuala and Lawrence for hosting.
