Jameos de Agua Lanzarote on 24/07/12

Rating:2 star rating
Board:90 litres
Sail:5.3

Good waves at Lanz but the wind died pretty quickly and I was lucky to make it in in one piece. Had a two more days at Jameos. Last day at Cucharas - again ridiculously windy. 100 windsurfers out. One kiter went out (supposedly a very good one) the wind picked him up and then kite collapsed and he ended up unconscious in water. He was rescued and they gave him CPR for half an hour, but he died in the end. A horrible thing to witness. I hope kiters take note - don't kite in extreme conditions.

Logo high waves at Jameos - not as perfect as it can be...but still good. Just me and one other guy out. Lots of waves. Wind is supposed to disappear tomorrow.

Replay of the day before only with sore muscles. Maxed out again with smaller waves. My Real wave board is great for these conditions.

Hayling Island on 30/06/12

Sail on Saturday was a bit rubbish with bumps everywhere but no real ramps. Sunday was a bit more pleasant with some real drag racing right next to the sandbar. A bit knackered with a three hour windsurf lesson as well as a proper sailing session...enjoying being an instructor though. Great to see all the OMWCers and a good meal at the Yew tree.

Pretty overpowered on my 3.7...which means basically survival sailing. Lots of jumpink - actually couldn't keep board on the water but wave riding was pretty limited. Good to see Steve, Heather, John, Bill. Sadly I'll be missing this weekend due to school summer fete, work, etc...It is howling outside right now along with a few showers. I think Friday should be good though high tide most of the day.

Windiest yet...and bigger waves again. Wish I could've held on for longer, but with a five hour drive ahead of me got off the water after two hours of full on wind and waves. My body is so bashed about, massive bruises and dings...it was definitely worth it though. Great to sail with old friends - my last day.

Not as windy with an occasional awesome set and a few smaller waves in between. Down the line wave bashing.

Logo high waves and me riding my old beloved Diva board. So stoked to be back...arms a bit sore after being over powered for a full on session.
