Wrong size kit in incredibly gusty wind. Went very fast. Lots of people out considering it was the middle of winter. Social event really

A bit gnarley - completely overpowered on 3-4 foot waves. Couldn't depower on the wave at all. Think i got one proper ride. The rest of the time I was just trying to hold on. Even jumping was tricky as the waves were so close together that if you jumped one you were likely to land on the next...supposed to be windier tomorrow and the forecast for next week looks truly scary - 6 metre swell. I'll believe it when I see it.

Made it out to the sand bar only to be disappointed by lack of waves although there were a few every so often if you could catch them. Broken toe still hurt a bit so made my jybes a bit painful.

Some days you feel like you have your own pocket of lack of wind and you don't move while everyone is flying around you and then some days you feel like you have your own little wind moving you around. That's how today was. I was the only one who could make it out to the reef where there were some really nice waves coming in. Had some great jumps and rides and then the wind died even more so had to bob my way back in. Broken toe didn't help much in jumps.

Got out at about 11:00 to some nice backside easterly waves. A bit overpowered at first, but then it got a little easier. Direction again a little strange - could jump or ride the wave either direction. There was actually some size to the waves. The most fun was finding a wave that was definitely going to break and then parking your sail depowered and surfing the wave.

Allan Cross there and we discussed the upcoming slalom events and other things.

I just had the strangest day at Hayling. SE winds with little waves. Both directions you were never sure if you should jump the wave or surf it. The sun was glaring in my eyes as I caught my fin on the sand bar a mile out at sea and the place was packed. Altogether a pretty good day though.

Sunday was fun blasting on my ancient race kit. At least it feels like you're going realllly fast. Lots of people and lots of smiles on the beach.

Monday had to wait til tide ebbed, but the waves were pretty nonexistent. Great going into girls' school with salt in my hair and eyes, and wet flip flops. The mums couldn't really deal with it.

Lots of fun slalom racing with old friends and new friends...we'll be starting a series of these and they are fun

The forecast for 2 metre swell didn't quite happen - nice westerly wind so you could go down the line on what was there...but there wasn't much there - biggest sets maybe shoulder high at high tide.

I think I went to sleep on Hayling and woke up on Maui. i haven't seen such good waves here in about three years. Smooth, good interval, pretty powerful and breaking forever. You catch one at the mile buoy and ride it as it broke and smoothed oout then broke again all the way to the beach. - must be at least ten bottom turns. Had to stop cuz my arms were too tired to hold on any longer. I feel like I just had a box of chocolates all to myself.
